For the past two weeks, we have been learning all about traditional tales.
Reception have been writing lots about the traditional tale ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. We have learned many adjectives to describe the troll and have produced some fantastic writing retelling the story in our own words.
For the ‘Communication and Language- understanding’ Early Learning Goal children need to be able to follow instructions involving several ideas or actions. They answer ‘how’ and ‘why’ questions about their experiences and in response to stories.
The three little pigs have been helping us learn how to share in maths this week; we had to share sticks and bricks to make sure all pigs had the same amount of materials to build their houses with.
Finally, we have been using our observational skills to draw our favourite characters from traditional tales. We had to look very carefully in order to produce our very best work.
You can help your child at home by:
Asking your child to perform the story map for The Three Billy Goats Gruff, they know some terrific actions to help them remember the story!
Asking your child if a troll came to visit at school? What was he like and what did he say?
Share traditional tales with your child at home and ask questions about them.
