Science Week in Reception

The Reception classes joined the whole school in learning about Science this week.  It began with a worship with Atomic Tom who taught us about air pressure and got us all very wet in the process!

We also had a visitor to our class from Gallones and the children tasted an array of ice creams including grass and tomato ketchup flavours.

We learnt about our bodies – our skeleton and internal organs.

We made flying hooplas

We made ramps for cars

We mixed a solid with a liquid producing a chemical reaction

And pretended we were scientists in the role play area

We also did experiments with flowers, skittles, milk and washing up liquid and learnt about floating and sinking.  I really hope that you children told you about some of this!

Reminders for next week –

The children need plimsolls/trainers next week please.

Please remember 50p for the French Café

Please return the permission slip for Stanwick Lakes asap as if we do not have sufficient numbers we will cancel on Friday.

Class photos are in their book bags.

Fir Trees need to bring in their costume for their class worship which is on Wednesday.

Thank you.

  1. Max loved the ice cream tasting too and said that Atomic Tom got everyone wet. That all looks like so much fun too!

  2. Eden has been asking questions at home all week about science and has loved learning about science so much that he said he wants to be a scientist when he’s older
